About Higher Oak Farm

Higher Oak Farm is a friendly, family run, natural farm in the village of Lymm, Cheshire. We have 16 acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside positioned between Manchester and Liverpool. We specialise in traditional and rare breed poultry but also have select Crossbreed & Hybrid hens available. Our hens and cockerels vary in age, from day old to point of lay and are for sale to all customers throughout UK. We also have both hatching and eating eggs for sale at the farm.

Our eating eggs are available daily, directly from the farm. Hatching eggs are available to collect from the farm or can be sent out using nationwide delivery.

We currently have 10 beehives on the farm and now offer pure raw honey and other handmade products from the harvested beeswax; such as our beeswax candles.

Here on Higher Oak Farm, we are set back from the summit of the red sandstone escarpment that runs along the southern edge of the Mersey valley. We are between Manchester and Liverpool and only 10 minutes from both the M6 and M56. Our position so close to a major a motorway junction makes for easy access for buying hens or hatching eggs to customers from Cheshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire.

We welcome newcomers to chicken keeping, and are happy to offer plenty of friendly chicken keeping help and advice.

Naturally Better Animal Husbandry

Animal welfare is very important to us and all our animals are looked after with great care. All of our chickens are given plenty of room to display their natural behaviour and explore their outdoor environment. When this is combined with natural land management and species rich meadowland it means everything tastes better and is better for you.

Our Ambition

Our long-term ambition is to increase bio diversity while developing a natural, traditional farm specialising in British rare breed Poultry. We strive to save and improve rare breed poultry and look to educate people that there is a better way of living in harmony with our animals and the land. We would like to produce food like our grandparents tasted and at the same time look after the land for future generations.

It is increasingly difficult for even large farms to make profits by dealing with wholesalers and large supermarkets. The only way to change this is for farms to deal directly with the public who are interested in the quality and provenance of their food and are concerned about the well-being of the farm animals that go to produce that food. We mainly supply local people directly from the farm gate and deliver locally to customers  that share our ethos and passion.
